Control of the pigeons on the Loft

This week we made new control of the pigeons that are on the loft.

After one more week of daily flights, some pigeons, unfortunately, disappeared.

The owners of this pigeons already know that, and he can send a substitute pigeons without any cost.

There is already available the first list of participant pigeons in Derby Internacional de Gondomar 2012.

This list will be updated whenever new pigeons arrive to the Municipal Loft of Gondomar.

If you detect any mistake, please send an email to rui@gcgondomar.pt, in order to correct that.

Derby Internacional de Gondomar 2012 - Pre-registration closed

We inform all the fanciers that the pre-registration for the Derby Internacional de Gondomar are closed.

So, we want say to thank at all the people that did the pre-reservation.

Alteration of the date of final race

We informe all that the date of final race was changed to 28th July 2012.

This alteration was made after a meeting between the four Portuguese one-loft-race that participate in the FCI Championship.

So, was decided the date of the final race of those four one-loft-race.

However, the reception date is is the previously announced (15th February until 15th March).

Some important informations about our Derby

Some important informations about our Derby:

• The registration fee is 50 €, per young pigeon. For each team with 5 pigeons there may be sent 1 extra pigeon (Free).
• The pigeons’s reception will be since 15th February until 15th March.
• Final race: 28 July 2012 (350Km).
• We ensure the pigeons’ transportation by the “Natural” to Portugal. So, you have to send the pigeons for “Natural” and we ensure the transportation to Portugal
• Is a FCI Championship
• We take a photo of all pigeons
• All the owners can send a photo of themselfs and we publish it in our website
• Our website is always updated with all the information
• The owners of the 50 first classified pigeons in the final race of the Derby Internacional will receive a participation prize. Besides this award, they will receive too a value of 50% of the selling price of their pigeon in the auction.

Derby Internacional de Gondomar was reported in pipa.be

We are very proud to see our Derby be reported in the biggest website of pigeons: pipa.be

This possibility was given to us for this website report through the contact developed by our collaborator and friend Lorenzo Van Russel, who some days before the final race told us about that possibility, which we are very proud.

Although the final race hadn’t elapsed as we want concerning the number of pigeons that arrived to the loft, we are sure that our image has improved a lot when compared to our image a year ago.

We believe that we are stronger, more consistent and more recognized, either nationally and internationally.

Once again we want to thanks all the people who helped us on this long and arduous journey.

Reporting of final race

On September 10th took place the final race of Derby Internacional de Gondomar, 600 pigeons have been sent to this final race, and the basketing was followed by a delegate from Fédération Colombophile Internationale (FCI), Mr. José Maria, whose presence we appreciate.

The liberation took place in Grândola (350 Km) and, at that time the sky was clean and the wind was null, and the pigeons oriented themselves very well.

However, along the way the pigeons were confronted with very adverse weather conditions which made this race very tough and demanding. Thus, the pigeons along the way to the loft were faced with rain and low visibility. We want to emphasize that even the worst predictions did not expected the weather conditions as complicated as have occurred, neither at the liberation time was expected that scenario.

So, only at 12:36pm the first pigeons were seen at the Municipal Loft of Gondomar, four pigeons arrived together. However, the pigeon which entered faster was Sérgio Ferreira’s pigeon, who was crowned the winner of our Derby. The runner up was Jorge Almeida Santos, Rui Marreiros third ranked, fourth placed was for Joaquim Dias de Oliveira, and Cecília Guedes was the fifth ranked.

The winner of Emigrant Derby was Sérgio Ferreira, who was also the winner of the Derby International. The Municipal Derby was won by Café Jardim, who was the 14º ranked in Derby International.

On the other hand, the ace pigeon was won by Lorenzo Van Russel and runner-up was a Vrins-Goris’s pigeon.

We want to congratulate all the winners of our Derby and thank to the defeated fanciers whose participation has enriched our Derby.

We also want to thank to all fanciers that, notwithstanding the weather conditions, were present in our Derby and enjoyed a wonderful fellowship. Another positive point was the presence of many foreign fanciers in our race, perhaps the largest number of foreign fanciers have ever been present in Gondomar, which certify the international dimension of our Derby.

We are sure that we did everything for Derby Internacional de Gondomar be respected nationally and internationally, and we think we achieve that goal. In fact, we fought against many adversities and developed a laborious project but we are extremely proud. So, we are sure that our Derby is nationally and internationally known for its quality, integrity and competence. Once again, we want to emphasize that we did everything for this race goes well, however, the weather is something we cannot control and it was something that took off a bit of shine to our Derby.

Finally we want to thank everyone who have trusted and continue to trust in our work.

Final Race - Basketing List

The basketing list for the final race is now available. There are two pigeons that were not basket because they were physically incapacitated. This was attested by a veterinary.
